What We Do

ACTIN Care Groups is a physician-owned and managed health plan that focuses on providing concierge care to its members. ACTIN is in partnership with Ascension Illinois, AdventHealth, and Loyola University Medical Center. Our 23 hospitals and 75 clinics cover members from Evanston to Kankakee and the Lake Shore to Rockford. These exclusive partnerships allow us to offer substantially lower costs than the short list of health plans that Chicago-area employers pick from. ACTIN Care Groups offers employers of various sizes a healthcare plan that heretofore could only be accessed by very large employers. There are 4 important reasons for employers to self-insure:

1. Self-insurance allows employers to design their plan to most effectively save money and improve employee health. Insured plans are cookie cutter versions of the same plan.
2. Self-insurance allows employers, not insurers, to keep the savings from their effective plan management.
3. Annual cost escalation in our self-insured plans is at the level of economy-wide inflation.
4. ACTIN's chronic disease management program improves the health of high-risk individuals by providing pharmaceutical, nutritional and lifestyle counseling by the member's health coaches in conveniently scheduled telemedicine visits. We have found that steady one-on-one counseling yields incremental improvements and sustained results in motivated individuals.

ACTIN offers Employers that have 30 or more employees enrolled, self-insurance with no risk beyond a fixed monthly premium equivalent. With 26 employer-years of claims experience our clients have spent on average 31% less on medical claims than equivalent commercial insurers. The savings are driven by direct hospital and specialty drug contracts that are 30-80% below competitors. We offer employees the lowest out-of-pocket cost in the Chicago area, $1500 with no deductibles. Our client’s annual cost escalation is no greater than economy-wide inflation, not annual increases that compound to 40% baseline increases over 5 years.
